Dad's Notes

  • Sitting on a bar stool with face showing at bar - just keeping an eye on things.

  • Boo-Bear meeped. He never meowed and for the first couple of years we didn't think he could make any sounds other than a broken purr - a purr that sounded a bit like a poor running car engine. His "meep" was the sweetest, softest, little sound that would warm your heart and make you want to hug him - if only he would let you.

  • Dropping toys in the water dish - this appears to be that he loved playing but was thirsty and couldn't bear to be apart from the toy.

  • When Booders would drink water one of his front legs would twitch when first starting - adorable!

  • When sitting in my office my boy would, on occasion, gently tap me on my shoulder to let me know he wanted some attention. If I was too busy then he would do it again and, if he deemed necessary, may include some claws to make sure he got my attention; this was typically followed-up with a meep. He primarily wanted to get a little head scratch or back scratch since getting up from my chair typically had him leave the room - his safety was paramount.

  • If one would sneeze, cough, or make a hand-covering-mouth motion, Boo-Bear would chatter - not a traditional chatter, mind you, but a booderbear chatter of meeping and stutters. This could occur while sleeping or while Boo was mid-yawn as well. A funny kid and I would swear he could sense a sneeze/cough as he would chatter even when in different rooms.

  • Boo and his sister loved watching/listening to the "Singing Bird on Wall Automaton" from blisskolb: https://youtu.be/1nPBbF1h-9Q

  • In spring and summer we could frequently find Boo and his sister "bugging" in the basement.

  • When getting a back scratch, he may "flop-over" to a side and show some belly. He loved for you to continue to rub his back, just above the tail and if you start rubbing his belly he will rollover to the other side - suggesting you get back to scratching his back. This was a fun game we could do for a couple of minutes, rolling over 3-5 times.

  • When it was time for bed, we would typically play a game where I would have to drive him toward the stairs by going around the island once or twice, frequently saying "it's time for bed young man." He would eventually start heading towards the bedroom, beating me to the sitting room, where he would remain until I was settled in bed when, after 20+ minutes (typically), a couple of little ears would pop up at the end of the bed. If mom was in bed then I was frequently just a stepping stone on the way to her head.

  • Boo was always concerned with getting cornered/trapped and if one of us would approach him he would frequently go someplace "safer" such as under the dining room table where he had many exits and objects to maneuver around. Boo was no fool.

  • On rare occasions, booders was tired enough that I could pick him up and take him to bed with no meeps. It was rare, however, that he would remain in bed as it almost always needed to be his idea and only after he had a chance to do a patrol or two to ensure his safety - you never know, a veterinarian could be hiding under the bed.

  • He was frequently waiting for me on the rug nearest the garage when I got home from work. I really miss that greeting.

  • Booderbear I believe stemmed from Boo-T-Bear which grew to boo-d-bear and booderbear which worked a bit with the boo-the-bear, ...

  • Booderbear was quite tall. We purchased a 40" tall scratch post that he could nearly reach the top of when stretching. He would do a big stretch on his side on our large rug and had a bent back reminiscent of a diver and filling a fair portion of the rug.

  • He loved "pinky" - the bamboo stick with the pink plastic tubing similar to a chinese finger cuff. I could whip it quickly to make it whistle and he would come running.

    • We could play it across the stairs where he would run up to catch it.

    • He could follow me around the house trying to catch it

    • Much more frequently, however, it was all about him flopping over (literally he would flop to his side) and "allow" me to dangle it for his amusement.

    • Occasionally, when he really wanted to play and had some extra energy, he could leap well over 18" to try and grab pinky - that kid was awesome!

  • The boy was, above all else, driven by his tummy. While he lived life with extreme caution he would set aside all fears if someone had food - in this he was my brave boy.

  • I really miss my boy!

Mama's Notes

  • Loved food, even smelling something would make him run around and climb his trees.

  • Was regimented on his feeding schedule. You would be in trouble if you didn't feed him on time (meeps and/or nibbles on the nose if you were still in bed).

  • He would bite my nose if I didn't pet him when he wanted to be petted.

  • He was so contemplative. He loved to watch the activities going on outside.

  • He was easily sidetracked.

  • Handsome pants would sit on the barstool and watch me cook.

  • At the Gardena house he would lay in the stairs and pull himself across the stair he laid on.

  • He loved to nurse on blankets. His little broken pur was music to my ears.

  • He would show his belly but you couldn't rub it.

  • He was my baby boy.

  • Song: "Monkey moo and Punky poo were walking through the forest, doodle ada doodle ada, Monkey found a bug."

  • Boo Bear, Booters, Handsome Pants, Little Brother, Baby Boy, punky poo, bubby

  • He would swat at Katniss to get her off of the bed. He wanted mom to himself.

  • He loved to floss with the toys that were on a string. I would play with him and he wanted to focus on oral hygiene.

  • He'd curl up on my head and play with my hair while we fell asleep.

  • I would hold his paw while we slept. He wanted me to.

  • He was one of the loves of my life.

  • He loved to be petted on the bridge of his nose and under his chin.
